RE: Brother in need
Date: February 20, 2010

Dear local members,

We have a brother in need of our help. Lt. Kevin Perry discovered over a year ago that his wife Brandy was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors discovered a spot on her lung and after tests were complete, it was confirmed that the diagnosis was cancer.  Kevin shared this news immediately with the department and as expected, the news was painful to hear. The upside to this discovery was that Brandy worked at a medical clinic and the doctors there were hell bent on treating this disease with every means at their disposal. The most aggressive treatments were made, with the obvious chemo therapy and radiation. For months Brandy went through the dreaded side effects of hair loss and sickness that comes with these treatments but after the first scan was revealed, it appeared progress was being made. Brandy was a trooper and continued her treatments as well as recommended experimental drugs to further more progress. After a long and hard fight, it was determined that this stubborn disease was not going away; in fact, it would eventually take over most of her body. At this time Brandy is taking large doses of morphine and a pain pump soon will be installed along with epidural shots to alleviate the horrible pain she is suffering. Brandy has decided that she will not undergo any more treatments and that she is at peace with letting nature take its course and put this in God's hands. As one might expect, there have been major medical expenses thus far and more to come in the future.  Kevin and Brandy have not asked for any help whatsoever. However, we all know that fireman wages cannot endure the extreme medical fees that they must face. We ask that you share in our effort to help monetarily reduce the burden of the medical fees that continue to build day after day. This should be the least of their worries     during this painful time. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and we are certain that our brother Kevin and sister Brandy would find much comfort in your graciousness. Please make your donations payable to the Guntersville Professional Fire Fighters Association. Mail to:
GPFFA, P.O. Box 138, Guntersville, Al. 35976.

Thank you,
